2004

The eventful evening was winding down on a warm New Year’s Day. Dwayne and I finally fixed Amy’s computer and were ready to just chill. It was getting late so he was going to head home soon, which takes over an hour to reach.

We had a delicious pizza dinner while fixing her computer and all the problems had been solved by buying a stick of RAM from Corsair. This dumb computer would not work unless it had specific memory running in it. Our quick trip to the Fry’s across town was a risk pending the outcome of the memory we bought. We were fortunate in our little venture and so our evening was about over.

Suddenly, during the bowl game, we saw a commercial with people serving black eyed peas for their meal.

“Oh crap, we haven’t had our black eyed peas today,” I said.

“There’s no way I’m going through this next year without eating black eyed peas,” Dwayne exclaimed. “Last year was crappy enough and I didn’t eat any last New Years.”

Still full from the 8 inches of pizza we each had, we made a quick run to the grocery store to purchase a can to bring back and eat. Surprisingly, there were only about four cans on the shelf after taking a moment to search.

Eagerly, we drove back to the house, warmed the beans in the microwave, and toasted our wishes for the new year. His toast was to be graduated by the year’s end. My toast was to get a job.

That was the best bowl of beans I’d ever eaten… pending the wish comes true soon.

This new year has already brought a nice little eye candy. Supposedly, there’s a server in this eBay auction, but I can’t find one.

2003

Yikes, it’s already the 3rd of January in the new year. I’m amazed how quickly this holiday vacation has already passed. In just a matter of two weeks I’ll be well on my way back to school.

I spent the evening and night with Teri and her family and friends for their New Year’s Eve party. Russell came along for my “homie support” so I wouldn’t be the only younger male. We played games, sang and watched the ball drop. Supposedly, this year was different than the last few years because of the sharp drop of younger folk like myself. Nevertheless, it was a good time and was glad to get to know the Bilhartz’s.

I don’t know what’s the matter but for the past week or so I’ve been awake since at least 2am; 4am was my departure time for REM the past few nights. It’s gonna be difficult to get back into a normal sleeping pattern for school; however I’m so spoiled with getting to sleep in so late, and I love it!

So like I said, I have a few more weeks to spend in the Bayou City and I feel like I’ve done so much so far but still have so much to do in the meantime. It’s gonna be a busy few more days before I leave for Nashville to visit some studios. I then get back and leave hopefully no more than 24 hours later.
