I already tend to check craigslist a few times a day to see what’s out there. It’s such a convenient, cheap, easy way to find out if there’s anything there for me. But it makes me lazy because I don’t have to make any effort to do anything about it.

So what’s craigslist? If you’ve never heard of it, I’m sure that you will in the near future. It’s becoming huge, national, international, and it’s a very active community here in Los Angeles as well as San Francisco. Basically, craigslist is a community of people who buy, sell, trade, want, give, promote, provide, receive, and converse. It was started in the middle of the 90s by Craig Newmark and was named craigslist by his friends. He incorporated in in the late 90s and it has been huge for a while.

There is a craigslist community in just about every major metropolitan area now. All you have to do is type yourcity.craigslist.org and it might exist. I highly recommend using it to find housing, to sell your stuff, to find something to do, anything really! Craigslist is really the main reason why I moved out here so quickly. I didn’t plan on being here for a while longer but I picked up and left in March because I found a place back in February. In fact, I almost moved to Nashville by meeting someone else on craigslist back in February as well.

Here in LA, craigslist is frequently used by actors and people in the industry to find a job or to find someone to work in a production. In fact, I worked on a film set as production assistant because I found an ad on craigslist stating they were looking for extra people to help out. I didn’t get paid, but I did receive free meals and invaluable experience.
